WINESMITH Tannat, Yolo County
WHY WE LOVE IT:
- Clarksburg AVA is all the rage
- Silky smooth and medium bodied
- Delicious now or cellar for 10+ years
WHAT WE TASTED:
A highly drinkable smooth red wine with a luxurious mouthfeel. The nose is instantly alluring with intriguing aromas of rich plum, blueberry fennel and violets. Generous and yet approachable and silky tannins contribute to a nuanced complexity in the finish.
WINEMAKER: Clark Robert Smith - Author of ‘Postmodern Winemaking: Rethinking the Modern Science of an Ancient Craft’ and pioneer in micro-oxygenation. Clark has been in the wine business since 1972 and is one of California’s most widely respected winemakers.
PERSONALITY:
Some of the most notable aspects of WineSmith wines are their longevity, balance, structural integrity, and “understated soulfulness.”
WineSmith's Tannat is profound and intense, yet also graceful. This robust wine is perfect for a hearty dinner and pairs well with proteins and rich foods. Grown in the Clarksburg AVA where warm days are tempered by cool coastal winds and fog which moves inland from San Francisco Bay.
